A waltz, - a dance that with its airy movement is one of the most ideal expressions of love in a couple. Cast metal with a bronze finish on a black marble base. Dim. 19 x 4 x 4 cm (H/W/D).   Emotions, captured for eternity: Gerard, a Dutchman, learned his craft as a self-taught artist and has now been working as an artist for over 40 years.   He tells a story with each of his modeled and cast sculptures. A story of moment, situation, joy and perseverance, creativity and success. They are expressive and soulful, motivating and full of energy. Through art he gives emotions a symbolic expression. Because of this, his sculptures act as small motivators that are perfect for the workplace or home office.

The "Lady with a Fan" is one of Klimt's last two paintings. The picture was still on the artist's easel in his studio when Klimt died. It fetched over $10 million at auction in 1994. It belongs to Klimt's "Golden Style". Inspired by Byzantine mosaics, he added ornamental areas of color to a golden bed like gemstones. His depictions of the body possess a subtle eroticism, the forms of which dissolve into ornamental, but also geometric areas of color. The "lady with a fan" wears a wide, kimono-like dress decorated with motifs of a Chinese dragon robe. Asian motifs cover the background. A phoenix can be seen behind "Wally's" head, whose tail feathers look like an extension of the hairstyle, next to it a heron or crane and lotus blossoms.       The phoenix is a...

Edward Hopper,  Summertime, 1943, Hopper documents the economic upswing caused by the war, the mood of anticipation that was beginning to affect the nation, and the new relaxed morals of youth in this country. Summertime presents a young girl in a see-through dress standing outside a tenement. The outfit, obviously new, refers to the increased prosperity of the nation, which at last had been able to put aside many of the difficulties of the Depression.   The U.S. Treasury Department estimated in 1943, the year Summertime was painted, that Americans at home had saved some seventy billion dollars in cash, checking accounts, and redeemable war bonds. The department's general counsel referred to this accrued money as "liquid dynamite," and his reference aptly characterizes...

. Iakovides, Paraphonia or Children's concerto or The grandmother and her grandchildren. 1894. Private Collection.     Iakovides painted the theme of the children's concert for the first time in 1894 and exhibited the painting for the first time in an exhibition in Munich (1894). Here the children perform their concert for the grandmother and not for the mother with the little girl. The older little girl in front of the window is also in this painting. But the boy with the watering can is missing. This painting was exhibited for the second time in Athens in 1896 during the first Olympic Games (1896). Its colors, compared to the 1900 variant, are noticeably darker and colder... In the 1900 painting everything becomes bright and the grandmother's annoyance is replaced by...

Red vineyard in Arles   In 1889, Van Gogh was invited to participate in a group show in Brussels called XX (or Vingtistes). Van Gogh suggested that his brother Theo, an art dealer and van Gogh's agent, send six paintings to be exhibited with the group, one of which was The Red Vineyard. Anna Boch, a Belgian artist and art collector, bought the painting in the early 1890s for 400 Belgian francs, perhaps because she liked the painting and wanted to show her support for van Gogh, and perhaps to please her brother, Eugène, whom he knew to be Vincent's friend     Anna Boch sold the Red Vineyard in 1906, however, for 10,000 francs, and it was sold again the same year to a Russian textile entrepreneur, Sergei Shchukin. It was given to the Pushkin Museum by...
