The Lady and the Unicorn

The background of this chiffon is inspired by the magnificent vermilion background from the decoration of each of the six tapestries of the Lady and the Unicorn. This famous sesries of wall hangings, commissioned by Jean Le Viste, member of a rich family from Lyon (France), is one of the tapestry masterpieces of the National Museum of Medieval Art, Paris. The six scenes stand out against a background of a multitude of cut flowers, like the bouquets that were strewn on the ground in front of processions or noble residences. Presented like a set of plant illustrations, these simple flowers that include the daisy, violet, carnation, periwinkle and mint evoke the domestic or courtly gardens of the end of the Middle Ages.

Finish: Hand-rolled hem.

Hand-rolled is a refined hemming technique based on the skills of hand sewing.

The craft of roulotting, once widespread in France, is now disappearing. Only a few well-known brands still practice it.
